Sewing a line on a circle

Mongolian Thanka

Mongolian Thangka

I am drawn to Thangkas and cloths that are made for meditation and or prayer. This cloth is being made to hang over another cloth which has messages sewn  on the surface. The cloth as journal or mantra tool is a means of using the qualities of cloth that convey memory, texture, connections with people, etc.

When Pascal died, pinned to his shirt next to his heart was a reminder of his transcendence and connection with God. He was a very religious man, and carried his faith next to his heart. I ask myself the question: If there were words worn next to my heart, what would they be?

This is the beginning of the process of making a Thangka.
